"The security landscape in Germany and Europe has fundamentally changed, with hybrid threats including misinformation, cyberattacks, espionage, and sabotage becoming daily challenges," the representative noted.
Recent notable incidents include two UAVs observed over a key military base in Mechernich, North Rhine-Westphalia, which triggered a police investigation. Perhaps more alarming was an event at Leipzig airport on August 5, when a drone carrying explosives collided with a Ukrainian cargo plane but failed to detonate. This incident is currently under federal investigation.
