On the night of August 11, Zaporizhzhia, a key industrial hub in Ukraine, suffered a combined missile and aerial bomb assault by Russian forces. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, the attack resulted in five fatalities and approximately 20 injuries.
The strikes targeted industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, residential buildings, and other structures including a garage cooperative, leading to power outages and multiple fires across the city. Video footage shared by Fedorov displayed burning buildings and vehicles, underscoring the scale of destruction.

Zaporizhzhia plays a pivotal role in Ukraine’s manufacturing and technology sectors, hosting a number of industrial plants and a budding local startup community.
