The United Kingdom has pledged to transfer intellectual property (IP) rights for its cutting-edge electronic warfare (EW) system, Stone Cloak, to Ukraine. This strategic move promises to enable Ukraine to manufacture the technology at an industrial scale, significantly boosting its defense capabilities against Russian military operations.

Empowering Ukraine’s Defense Technology Ecosystem

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced this commitment, characterizing Stone Cloak as "one of the UK’s best national innovations, battle-tested at the frontline." Stone Cloak devices are compact, roughly the size of a laptop, designed to render Ukrainian drones invisible to Russian air defense systems. The UK has already supplied thousands of these systems to Ukraine, and the new IP transfer aims to scale up production locally, accelerating deployment and customization.

"Stone Cloak will play a vital role in securing both our nations," Burnham emphasized, underlining the technological and geopolitical significance of the collaboration.

Beyond Ukraine, the UK plans to incorporate Stone Cloak technology into its own next-generation long-range weapon systems, including the Brakestop project focused on developing cost-effective cruise missiles. This dual-use approach highlights the technology’s versatility and strategic importance within the defense innovation ecosystem.
