In the early hours of July 30, Russian forces launched a series of missile and drone attacks across multiple Ukrainian cities, causing significant civilian casualties and property damage. A particularly tragic incident occurred in Radushne, a village near Kryvyi Rih, where a ballistic missile strike destroyed a private home housing a large family. The attack resulted in the deaths of two young girls aged 5 and 12, along with four adults. Eight others, including children aged 6 and 15, were injured. Rescue operations continue amid concerns that the casualty count may rise.
"The number of victims may increase," said Alexander Vilkul, head of the city defense council, in a statement highlighting ongoing emergency response efforts.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier warned of an imminent large-scale aerial attack and emphasized the need for enhanced air defense support from international partners. Specifically, he called on allies possessing Patriot missile systems to provide critical assistance in countering Russia’s aerial offensives.
"It is essential that our partners fully understand the situation and recognize that their readiness to assist with surface-to-air missiles directly influences the protection of civilian lives," Zelensky stated.
